Sculptocast

Lifecasting, or bodycasting, is a process of taking a mould directly from the body, preserving every detail and using this mould to cast an accurate and lifelike sculpture in plaster or similar material.

The process, although demanding skill from the sculptor, is relatively quick and easy for the model. The materials used are standard items from the dental and surgical professions, the only discomforts for the model are that they are initially rather cold and it is necessary to keep still for around twenty minutes whilst the mould is applied and sets..

Casts can be made of full bodies or just parts - any parts! Typically, front or back torsos, pregnant abdomens or just the breasts or bottom are very popular. Normally, the cast is made of just half the body depth and the resulting sculpture can then be hung on a wall. Finishes can be pure white plaster or a variety of metallic or patinated effects.

Examples of custom casts are shown below, a range of ready-made wall art will eventually be made available.
